Family Time Enjoying the Greater 'Natti

Is it just me or is the current weather so unbelievably awesome??? We had to get out and enjoy it some this past weekend and what a treat that it continues this week!

We started our Sat morning at a Lowe's kids workshop. I think they offer them twice a month and they are free. It was a cute project and Grant had fun. We will definitely do it again. I recommend going when they start at 10 though because by the time we left it was packed!!
Giving a 3 year old a project with a hammer is always a good idea isn't it??

Here at the Sexton household we like to instill a work ethic early. Colin will be responsible for mowing beginning next spring. Here he is getting in some practice.

And finally, the highlight of the weekend for me was a picnic at the overlook at Devou Park. Kurt and I got engaged there almost 7 years ago. I loved taking my family back and remembering what a special day it was for us (and enjoying the view).

Our Little Grease-Monkey

Daddy had a good time with Grant changing the oil. Grant kept pointing at things under the hood and asking what they were! We covered the exhaust manifold, coolant reservoir, radiator, and battery. He especially loved watching the oil come out of the pan! Needless to say, he needed a good scrubbing after this one.

Our FREE weekend

Yes, we have managed to have a great, free weekend at least as far as eating is concerned! Our county always has great, family friendly events planned in the summer/fall time that we love to take advantage of. This weekend we had one in the morning and one in the evening!

We started the day at Touch a Truck. Colin and Grant both have some serious potential to be firefighters one day judging on these pics.

"10-4 good buddy, give me your location and I'll be there in a jiffy."

"All systems in check, we are cleared for take off"

We ended the day at a neighoring neighborhood luau complete with Haiwaiian dancers. Much fun was had and we are hopefully in for a full nights rest after spending much of the day outside in some pretty sticky weather.
