Remember how I posted that I love living in a cul de sac with multitudes of neighborhood kids for my kids to play with, and yada, yada, yada?... Well, I retract it all! Ha, not quite but there is one thing that is turning into quite a predicament at our house. The Kona Ice truck likes to come and park in our cul de sac almost every evening loudly playing "Don't Worry, Be Happy Now". Today was the best, since he pulled around at 5 pm, when everyone is their hungriest. I caved and let Grant get a snow cone. I don't mind letting him have a treat now and then, but its hard to tell your child no you can't have one when a cluster of kids surround the truck everyday happily enjoying their ice treat. Of all life's predicaments, I realize this is small but annoying anyway. Someone once told me to teach my kids that when the ice cream truck plays music its a sign they are out of ice cream. At the time I thought that was funny, but now I am thinking more like genious!:-)
Brain freeze!

Hmm. That would be annoying. Maybe you could have some sort of alternative "treat" in your house that Grant would get [almost as] excited about and you could bust it out when the ice cream truck comes.
Or you could let him see the movie that my parents let me see when I was little about the evil ice cream truck driver who kidnapped and killed small children when they approached his ice cream truck. Because of that movie, I have never gotten ice cream from an ice cream truck and all drivers are suspect.
Funny about the movie because last year we had a dirty old ice cream truck that played music that sounded like the batteries were dying. It honestly gave me the creeps. So at least the Kona van is bright and cheery. I actually do enjoy the music:-) I will think on an alternate treat idea as well...
That is a problem. We had an ice cream truck that came through in our old neighborhood and I always told John Patrick that it was for the other kids. :-) This is what I tell him about the free cookies at the grocery store too...I know, I'm mean. Honestly though the cookies are so messy and I really don't want him to "need" them every time we go!
we have a friend that tells her kids the truck comes around in the afternoon to put everyone in a good mood :)
i remember the ice cream truck was my favorite part of the summer at my grandparents... they would go for anything!
