Cheapest Disposable Diapers

Hey ladies,

I know some of you are very talented at keeping your families expenses to a bare minimum. For those of you that use disposable or at one time used disposables, what was the calculated cost/diaper for size 5s?

I am currently getting delivered to my doorstep each month of 116 Pampers for $26 (about $.22 a diaper). Not bad, but wandering how much cheaper I could be getting them without having to scrounge for sales. I would rather have the same place each time to get them. I have to admit, with my scatterbrained mind these days, it always a welcome site to see the diapers sitting on my front porch.

Thanks for your help!

We buy them at Costco - the Kirkland signature brand. We get 186 size 4's and 168 size 5's for $39 bucks. .20 a diaper for 4's and .23 for 5's. It is kinda sobering when you realize each diaper is worth about a quarter! In any case, we LOVE the Kirkland diapers - they're really high quality, and we love shopping at Costco (and eating dinner there (for 3) for $5).

We also do cloth - but I'm in process of giving it up to save time. It was really cost efficient when the kids were younger, but as they are growing up I'm looking for a little more independence from the washing machine. :-)

It's been so long since I've done the cost/diaper thing, but I know Target brand is the cheapest. I've actually started moving away from them though since I don't think their quality is as good anymore. I'd rather pay more and know that the diaper won't leak overnight. I'd say your Pampers deal is pretty good. We just bought a box of Kroger Comforts and paid about 20 cents/diaper and I'm happy with the quality. I also like Sams brand, but the cost is similar.

We've been doing cloth with Evie too, but with the busyness of the holidays, the rash that she kept having and my morning sickness we have put a temporary hold on it. I'll probably move back into them in then next few weeks though.

Thanks for the feedback ladies. Glad to hear I am not getting cheated by being lazy and having them delivered:-)

Taylor - I have always heard good things about Costco but unfortunately our closest one is an hour away. We have Sams but the diapers don't measure up to the name brands.

Congrats to you both on using cloth. I know its the best for the environment, but I'm still not ready to make the jump.

Give cloth a whirl....we made the transition easier more than a year ago with gdiapers and from there we made plunge into full time cloth pretty easily. It isn't really a hassle and frankly it is dirt cheap!

Hey, Crystal! I buy them at Sams and they come out to a touch over $.20 per diaper. I didn't like their little diapers, but once Elly got older I liked them because they don't smell and they worked well through the night.

Where do you order your pampers from and what type of pampers are they? Do you pay shipping?

Hey Kara! We used to use Sams diapers as well but they changed somewhat last year and we aren't as happy with them. When Grant was in diapers we had to put him in name brand at night since the Sams leaked on him.

Is Elly a size 5? We calculated our diapers to run $.22 from there (they have really hiked the prices since we first started using them).

I get mine with free shipping through Amazon. The box is $30 but then they take another $5 off - it was a promo when I signed up and they deliver once every month. I can cancel at any time. The final cost is $26.19 including tax. They are the baby dry type.

Crystal -

I cannot find my church directory and I apparently do not have your email address. I'm hoping that you get this. We are switching our play group to Thursday and I made this wonderful decision for this week before I remembered that we were getting together this Thursday. Do you mind if there are a few other moms/kiddos here when you and your boys come? I know it's kind of weird to invite someone over and then also invite a bunch of other people for the same time. I'm sorry. I'm hoping that this means that you guys will be able to start coming to play group maybe?
