It was a beautiful, sunny day today. With temps in the 50s everyone was excited to get out and enjoy it. We started the day at church with a sermon on Job. The emotional and physical pain Job went through was incredible. It kept hitting home, "Don't doubt in the dark what you know in the light." Although we have the typical trials you go through on a daily basis, there was no overwhelming trial that I was aware of.
We came home and the older boys of the neighborhood were playing in the cul de sac. No surprise there. It was a beautiful day, who wouldn't want to be outside? We left to grab a quick bite to eat. On the way back in we noticed several police cars at the front of the neighborhood and several neighbors standing outside. A few minutes later we were filled in what had happened.
The boys had gone home and found their mother unconscious in the house. An ambulance was called but they were unsuccessful in reviving her. She was 42. She leaves behind a teenage son, a middle schooler, and the youngest still in elementary. The cops we saw hanging out were still there because they couldn't reach the Dad. The boys had to stay with the police until they found him later that afternoon.
Later I happened to running errands and I watched someone drop off the Dad and saw him walk into the home, head down. Here was this beautiful day and this family was suddenly changed forever. My heart aches for them. I want to hold those boys and tell them how sorry I am. But instead, since we do not know them well I pray for them. I will hug my boys (including Kurt) extra tight and tell them I love them and thankful for this day with them. I am once again reminded we have no guarantees of how long we have here on Earth. Although I am confused, I know this came as no surprise to God and once again reminded that my ways are not His ways. I rest in that His way is best.

Oh man, that is sad. I will keep them in my prayers.
Wow! I will be praying for them too,
and for a opportunity to minister to their family.
Does the Dad live there and was just away when it happened or does he live somewhere else?
Jen/Paulina - thank you for your prayers for this family. They are needed.
Jen - the Dad is in the house. Honestly, its not a great situation to begin with. The kids were basically latch key kids (seen roaming at all times) even though the Mom was home at all times. Still, a Mom is a Mom and it would be hard to lose no matter the time. Please pray for me to support this family in whatever way I can, and for it to an opportunity to talk about Christ with other unsaved neighbors. Thanks!
